PSP 2 on the works

PSPImagination Technologies Group announced that a big company has signed a licence agreement with it. From the behind the scene stories that big company is Sony and the task is making the PSP 2 better than all the handheld consoles that are in the market. For This they will use a new GPU system namely a SGX55x graphics chip will be implemented in the new PSP. The chip is still under th works but we know the specification of the current standings. In comparison to the PSP this is what they have to implement.

PSP GPU Specifications:

  • 166 mhz core speed
  • 2 MB VRAM
  • Up to 33 million polygons per second
  • 664 million pixels per second (fill rate)

PowerVR SGX530 Specifications:

  • 200 MHz Core Speed
  • 13.5 million polygons per second
  • 1200 million pixels per second (fill rate)
  • DirectX 9 Shader Model 3 support / OpenGL 2.0
  • 128-bit color precision
  • Multi-sampling and anti-aliasing

I’ll hope thats not the final state of the chip and they will make it better, because PSP just have to be the best portable console.

The official firmware was launched 24 hours ago and we have the costum firware of it by the team M33 lead by Dark-Alex. No changelog yet, but the popsloader doesn’t work. The only change stated in the forum is,  “Bug fix: when changing speed in xmb, and the psp turned the brightness to 0 automatically the speed was reseted to 222 again.”  The update for the popsloader will be released shortly.

You can download the CFW 5.00 M33 here.

Site down

Sorry folks!
The site was brought down by the hurricane in Ohio.
The servers of my host were damaged by it so I couldn’t keep the site up.
Everything is back online, so you can enjoy it as before.
